Private security is one of the fastest growing industries worldwide.  In the United States alone, spending on private security exceeds public law enforcement seven to one.  Securiguard is on the leading edge of this expansion.  In the past year alone we have grown 40 percent.  Join our family and grow with us.  Securiguard has many great opportunities for mature, confident people with integrity and sound judgment.

Although prior experience is a valued commodity, we understand that good people might not have years of experience.  Securiguard has a number of positions that require little or no security experience.  All you need is integrity and a resolve to improve yourself.  Securiguard can place you in a good position and give you the training and experience you need to excel.  As your knowledge and experience develops, you will qualify for more responsible, better paying positions within the company.  If you already have experience, there are many top tier jobs just waiting for the right person.

Free Training!

Securiguard has its own training academy, so we can provide customized training to benefit the guard force.  The Institute of Criminal Justice and Security is a certified security services personnel training school.  The Institute provides extensive basic and advanced training that exceeds state and federal licensing requirements.  All training is provided free of charge to Securiguard employees.  New employees must remain with the company six months after completing training to qualify for the free training.

Free Uniforms!

Securiguard believes it takes pride in our service and image is a critical part of that service, so uniforms are issued at no charge to company personnel.  The uniform, with its various insignia and devices, is designed to identify Securiguard personnel, their rank, authority, and the responsibility conferred by Securiguard upon those who wear it.  Securiguard employees take personal pride in their appearance and maintain their uniforms in a clean and neat condition at all times so that only the most professional appearance is presented to the public.

Convenient locations

No matter where you live in the D.C. Metro area, Securiguard is near you.  We have locations in Maryland, DC, Virginia, and a number of other locations in the Southeast.  Each site has different training and experience requirements, but every effort will be made to place you at a site close to home.

Career Paths

Securiguard believes in promoting from within.  Securiguardprovides an excellent opportunity for employees who apply themselves and excel to move up and assume positions of greater responsibility.  Where possible, our supervisors are handpicked from the ranks of our professional officers.  This gives you a great opportunity to move into management.  Competition is tough, but the rewards are worth it.  After you are selected, an intense course of study will give you the tools to succeed.

A Great Place to Work

One of our corporate goals is to provide a good working environment to promote.  We continually work towards a cooperative team effort at our job sites.  Because our supervisors are promoted from within, they know the job and strive to give you a great working environment.  Our impact awards program encourages every officer to help improve how we do business.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Securiguard is an equal opportunity employer.  We do not discriminate against any applicant or employee on the basis of marital status, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or any other status protected by applicable law.  This policy of non-discrimination extends to all terms, conditions, and privileges of employment and to all employment actions, as well as company sponsored activities, including but not limited to hiring, discharge, promotions, training, and compensation.  The Company’s commitment to non-discrimination in employment is strong.  All employees, including managers and supervisors, are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with this policy.  Acts of discrimination by supervisors and employees will not be tolerated and will be the subject of disciplinary action up to and including immediate dismissal.  If you believe that you have been treated in a way inconsistent with the Company’s policy of equal opportunity, you are encouraged to bring the matter to the attention of your supervisor or the next level of management so that appropriate action may be taken.  No retaliation will occur for the reporting of any such actions. All policies are important.  Verbiage implies that this policy is more important than others.

Workplace Harassment

Securiguard is committed to providing a work place free from harassment including, but not limited, to sexual, racial, age, national origin, disability, religion or ethnicity.   Each employee has the right to expect a professional work place; therefore, respect and sensitivity for our co-workers is expected of and demanded from each employee. Securiguard has a policy of “Zero Tolerance” for any behavior that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment for any of its employees.

What may be acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another.  Therefore, unwelcome comments, pursuit or touching, use of profanity, obscene, rude or suggestive remarks or jokes, inappropriate posters, stickers and/or materials are examples of harassment.  Employees are cautioned not to discuss non-work related conversations, which may be perceived as offensive to others.  This would include religion, politics, race relations, personal/intimate dialogue, etc.

Any individual who believes he/she has been subjected to harassment is strongly encouraged to report the incident immediately to any Supervisor, Manager or Human Resources.  Management provides and supports a Dispute Resolution Procedure for receiving and resolving complaints alleging discriminatory practices in employment relations, including harassment.  All complaints will be handled as discreetly as possible. All complaints of harassment will be investigated promptly and in an impartial manner.  If an employee is not satisfied with the handling of a complaint or the action taken by the manager, then the employee should bring the complaint to the next higher level of authority.  In all cases, the employee will be advised of the findings and conclusions.

No retaliatory action will be taken against any employee who reports that he/she has been the subject of harassment, witness harassment or who participates in an investigation.  The organization will not tolerate retaliation by managers and employees against any employee reporting incidents of harassment or for participating in an investigation of a harassment claim. There will be serious disciplinary consequences for the offender where harassment or retaliation is confirmed, up to and including termination.

Substance Abuse Policy

Securiguard supports the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 and recognizes substance abuse as a potential health, safety, and security problem.  Because our employees are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the worksites at which they are employed, our guiding philosophy requires that Securiguard provide a clear policy on drug and alcohol abuse and maintain a workplace free of drug and alcohol abuse.  The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of a controlled substance or alcohol on Company premises, the client’s premises, or while conducting company business at all locations, is absolutely prohibited.  Violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, and may have legal consequences.

Securiguard recognizes drug and alcohol dependency as a major health problem.  Any employee who must use prescribed drugs or narcotics during work must report this fact to their supervisor along with acceptable medical documentation.  A determination will then be made as to whether the effects of the drug or narcotic will have a detrimental effect on the performance of the employee or the safety of others.

Securiguard employees are expected and required to report to work on time in an appropriate mental and physical condition.  It is our intent and obligation to provide a drug-free, healthy, safe, and secure work environment.

Any supervisor who notices an employee demonstrating unusual behavior patterns which appear to be drug, narcotic, or alcohol related should immediately remove the employee from the job site.  The supervisor should call a taxi or have someone escort the employee to his/her home, as the person may not have all his/her faculties to drive a vehicle.  The supervisor should contact Human Resources for further assistance in dealing with a suspected substance abuser.

Securiguard may include drug testing as part of the employment physical examination, subsequent examinations, and at random, when dictated by contractual requirements or in accordance with Company policy.

In accordance with applicable law, Securiguard reserves the right to require all employees to submit to a drug and/or alcohol test by a person or agency designated by Securiguard, where there is reasonable cause to believe that an employee is abusing and/or is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Such examinations can include but are not necessarily limited to blood, urine, breath, hair, or other tests, permitted by applicable law, for evidence of the presence of illegal drugs or alcohol.  Securiguard also reserves the right to search employees, packages, vehicles, lockers, handbags and similar items when Securiguard has reason to believe that such a search may produce evidence that the employee violated this policy.

As a condition of employment, employees must abide by the terms of the above policy and report any conviction under a criminal drug statute.  A report of a conviction must be made known to the Company immediately after the conviction.  The Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 mandates this requirement.
